May 03, 2007 -- Legendary Jamaican Reggae Star, Barrington Levy replaces Third World in Sweet Cry Freedom Line-up.
Barrington Levy, Jamaica’s #1 singer of all time who remains the perennial favorite of audiences throughout the world has replaced Third World in the line-up for the much-anticipated return of Sweet Cry Freedom ’07.
Levy will be an outstanding replacement for Third World who are currently on tour in Africa. As a result of Third World having to travel through 3 continents to get to Antigua, the producers of the event decided not to chance the possibility of them not arriving in Antigua in time to perform at Sweet Cry Freedom ’07, which will be held this Saturday May 5th at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
The stellar musical line-up for the much anticipated return of Sweet Cry include soca’s Shurwayne Winchester & Traffik of Trinidad, Red Hot Flames, Eddie Mello, General P, Los Mortales, & Flora Haywood – all from Antigua; dancehall’s Cham and Macka Diamond; Calypso’s Black Stalin; reggae greats – Barrington Levy & Freddie McGregor and Antiguan hip hop artiste Logiq. That’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg in a mega-show that is also expected to feature musical tributes to late greats, James Brown by DJ Charlie, Ray Charles by Mix and Joseph Hill of Culture by DJ Sean. A number of Antigua’s top selectors including: - Chickie, Renegade Movement, DJ Alex and DJ Tanny will provide the musical entertainment between band changes.
Sweet Cry Freedom ’07 will begin at 8.30 pm and the night’s activities will be co-hosted by Kenny Nibbs and Brucella Marsh. Also on stage to introduce the acts will be: - Sly J, Lawrence Mason, Basil Chambers and Zugu. Admission to what is expected to be an unparallel night of outstanding entertainment; while not free is only $60.00. Tickets go on sale from Thursday at all b-mobile stores, Bee Hive Bar in Heritage Quay, Kennedy’s Liquor World opposite the Public market and Island Woman in Radcliff Quay for only $50.00.
You have asked for it and now it is here once again, Sweet Cry Freedom ’07 the ultimate CARICOM Jamboree. Bring your flag and come.
